3 Reasons to Visit El Pinacate

El Pinacate and Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Sonoran Desert in Mexico.

 

It is a vast landscape of volcanic craters, sand dunes, and lava flows. The area is home to diverse plants and animals, including its namesake Pinacate beetle. Many Arizona residents have heard of the place because the reserve was the subject of one of the episodes of The Desert Speaks with David Yetman on PBS. 

There are a number of reasons why you should visit El Pinacate. Here are a few of them:

  • The scenery is stunning: El Pinacate is a truly otherworldly place. The volcanic craters, sand dunes, and lava flow create a landscape that is unlike anything you've ever seen before.
