Reaching the Next Generation
Last March, Borderlandia spent an unforgettable week exploring the two worlds of the borderlands - urban and rural - with the most wonderful group of Catholic high school students from Kansas City and Where There Be Dragons.
The students had the chance to learn how to make the legendary postre of Hotel La Posada del Río Sonora, flan de chiltepín, an unforgettable taste and memory of Mexico. Special thanks to the hotel staff for holding the cooking workshop and sharing with them this Sonorense culinary heritage.
The group was also treated to an exploration of understanding the past through art. They learned about muralism and its tradition in Mexico from Beatriz Corella, artist of the Banámichi Municipal Palace Murals depicting the cultural heritage of the beautiful Río Sonora community.
Thank you to the teachers and students of Sion and the coordinators of WTBD, Kat & Liam!
If you want to visit Banámichi, you can join us on our next tour in September, to celebrate Mexican Independence Day on an adventure to Sonora!
