Arizona Sonora Border Projects for Inclusion
If you were looking for a sign today to give somebody a leg up in both the figurative and literal sense, look no further than this post on a truly one-of-a-kind establishment located in the border town of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.
Arizona Sonora Border Projects for Inclusion (ARSOBO) is a ground breaking bi-national nonprofit that not only talks the but walks the walk. They need your help. It's mission is to provide all terrain wheelchairs, prosthetic devices and hearing aids to the public regardless of the paitients abilities to pay for the product and service.
That's not all, the wheel chairs they produce are made by craftsmen who are wheel chair users themselves, same goes for the prosthetic workshop and hearing aid clinic they run. ARSOBO also seeks out dignified employment for those served by the nonprofit.
This is the good news about the borderlands you do not hear about in the sensationalist national and international news media. Civil society on both side of the border coming together to give our disabled neighbors the dignity they deserve.
The pictures are from a visit on early August by all of the board members of the organization. With fantastic presentations by interns Rafael and Leslie about collecting and telling the stories of the people of ARSOBO, those who are served and the staff.
If this was your sign, the link to donate but really socially invest in this project is here.
