What’s New?

New Sonora’s Bacanora Route Tour for Spring 2025!

Great news for the Bacanora lovers!

We are delighted to announce that we will be adding a new tour in our series of the popular Bacanora Route Tours for next spring.

Dive into the distillation process in the Sierra Madres with Borderlandia and meet the people directly involved in spirit production on this special itinerary to the namesake town of Bacanora.

Departing from Nogales, and based in the capital city of Hermosillo, we will spend two nights - the first and final - taking in the city’s cosmopolitan life. On our full second day, we will head east to uncover the roots of agave culture in northwestern Mexico from the source. The second night will be in Sahuaripa, the land of the Mexican Jaguar, just up the road from Bacanora where we will stay at an old mill converted into a bed and breakfast.

You’ll get to know the producers, learn about their process at three different vinatas, take part in tastings, enjoy the local gastronomy, and experience the beautiful denomination of the origin region home of this Sonoran spirit.

Dates: March 27 - 30, 2025 (3 nights / 4 days)

Ready for tacos?

Join us for another edition of our Nogales Taco Tour next January!

Walking through the historic city center, you’ll experience the quality of Sonora’s surf and turf culinary arts in the border town’s diverse taquerias.

From the Sea of Cortez to the Sierra Madres, learn about how geography, history, and religion shaped the multiple expressions of tacos in regional Mexico. Cross the border with us by way of the bridge of bringing people together through food culture on this taqueria trek.

We promise you won’t leave hungry with 3 - 4 distinct stops along the approximately 2-mile total walking route!

Date: Sunday, January 12, 2023 / 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Five Years of Borderlandia!

We are celebrating an important milestone! Five years providing meaningful cross-cultural enrichment and sharing the good news of the borderlands. This time working in the borderlands has proven how critical citizen-level diplomacy: connecting people across borders and in-place public education are to building understanding between Mexicans and Americans.

You can find us already looking forward to the next five years in leveraging the creativity in our hearts to develop programs to serve you and the public and promote our special region and the dignity it deserves.

Thank you for all your support in this adventure!
