Green Kingfisher

We were so delighted to see these images that our friend, Montana photographer, biologist, author and conservationist John Ashley captured of the magnificent green kingfisher (Chloroceryle americana), “the northernmost of four Central American kingfisher species who wear this verdant color” as he describes it.

He captured these amazing pictures in Arivaca Lake in January, and was kind enough to let us share them with our Borderlandia friends. Enjoy the beauty of this small bird that lives along streams and rivers in the borderlands.
