Hi friends,

We are in the gorgeous green world of late-summer monsoons, and the abundance of water always brings forth hope and renewal. It’s really those extremes like heat and water that shape the Sonoran Desert but produce some of the most vibrant results like the stunning diversity of cactus flowers.

With the positive, there’s often the not-so-positive, and we'll just say mosquito season has also officially started along the riverways of the borderlands. This is a centuries-old issue here, in fact, there are even Spanish colonial documents that cite Tubac, Arizona as being a malarial swamp and one of the reasons for the transfer of the presidio garrison up the Santa Cruz River to Tucson in 1775. ¡Ni modo

Now that we have those hot and humid afternoons and most of us are inside avoiding the worst of the heat, on the other hand, we have more time to read! So, we have taken the time to assemble a great edition of Borderlandia Magazine for you with some exciting new programming and news to share with you all.

Read on to find out more!
