Custom tour Hermosillo: From Sierra and Sea!

Last December, Alex had the chance to take a wonderful family on a private tour of the Sonoran capital, Hermosillo. The trip included a visit to the Sea of Cortez, the estuary with its mangroves, Kino Viejo and Kino Nuevo. On the second day, they visited the former capital of Sonora, Ures, tasting jamoncillos, at one of the oldest producers in the state and visiting its historic plaza and mill.

Exploring the traditional foods of a classic Sonoran cenaduría (dinner restaurant) in Hermosillo, enjoying tacos de carne asada and sea food were a highlight of the trip!

Borderlandia in LA

Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, we had a chance to share about the important intercultural diplomatic work of Borderlandia at the annual National Humanities Alliance Conference in Los Angeles.

Our presentation was entitled: Energy in a U.S. Border City: How the Humanities are Strengthening Community Life in Nogales, Arizona.

Alongside two of our friends and collaborators, Evan Kory and Aissa Huerta, we talked about La Línea art studio, Borderlandia, the Nogales murals, Nogales Walks, and the impact of the pandemic border closure.
