Anza Trail - Nature/Heritage Walk

Join local guides Alex La Pierre and Jack Dash on a stroll down the Anza Trail. We will meet at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and head south on the cottonwood lined banks of the Santa Cruz River. Alex will contextualize the rich history of the area, and Jack will describe the diverse plants and animals encountered on the trail. We will hike approximately 2 miles south before turning around and ending back at the Presidio, for a total of 4 miles. Ruby, AZ - Nature/Heritage Walk

This trip will take participants through the beautiful Atascosa Highlands to the ghost town of Ruby, Arizona. We will meet at the Pilot Travel Center off Exit 12 from I-19 at 8:30 am, after which we will caravan out along Ruby Road, stopping to take in the sites and discuss the incredible biodiversity of this area. We will end up at the old mining town of Ruby, where local guide Jack Dash will share his knowledge of the rich history of this isolated mining camp, while taking the time to discuss the flora and fauna found there as well. Be advised we will be driving on a dirt road, but it is passable in almost any passenger vehicle.
