This trip will take participants through the beautiful Atascosa Highlands to the ghost town of Ruby, Arizona. We will meet at the Pilot Travel Center off Exit 12 from I-19 at 8:30 am, after which we will caravan out along Ruby Road, stopping to take in the sites and discuss the incredible biodiversity of this area. We will end up at the old mining town of Ruby, where local guide Jack Dash will share his knowledge of the rich history of this isolated mining camp, while taking the time to discuss the flora and fauna found there as well. Be advised we will be driving on a dirt road, but it is passable in almost any passenger vehicle. Ruby is one of the best preserved ghost towns in Arizona, and visiting this town is a unique and rewarding experience.
