Anza Trail Guided Hike
Join local guide and historian Alex La Pierre on a special hike commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Juan Bautista de Anza Expedition. Starting at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, we’ll head south along the scenic cottonwood-lined Santa Cruz River.
As we walk, Alex will share fascinating stories about the river valley’s history, provide insights into the 1775-76 Anza expedition, and highlight the diverse flora and fauna encountered along the trail.
The hike covers approximately 2 miles south before returning to the Presidio for a total of 4 miles. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the rich culture and biodiversity of the Santa Cruz Valley.
Alex La Pierre is a public historian and former National Park Service Ranger with expertise in historic preservation and interpretation of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.
